This database provides a pedagogically optimized list of nuclear word families in French, developed using corpus-based frequency methods to maximize lexical coverage while minimizing learning burden. Each family includes a base headword along with its most frequent inflected and derived forms. The base list contains 3,000 word families (25,141 word types), and the nuclearized version includes 2,871 families (10,458 word types), offering approximately 90% coverage of texts typically used in reading instruction.
